Footscray Community Arts Centre is a leader in contemporary community-based arts.
Located on the banks of the Maribyrnong River in Melbourne’s inner-west suburb of Footscray, it is a place where artists and communities come together to create, experience and enjoy art.
Working primarily with the communities of Melbourne’s West, the centre produces high quality artistic projects; programs and events; enables communities to engage with the arts; and provides a space to experience art.
Established in 1974, the centre has received widespread national recognition for its pioneering support of community-based art. It is also renowned for its advancement of multicultural arts in Australia.
Building upon this history, Footscray Community Arts Centre continues to work with some of Australia’s finest artists and arts organisations, adding the skills, energies and cultural life of the communities in the West, to create exceptional art.
