Janine Burke
Janine Burke is the award-winning author of sixteen books of art history, biography and fiction.
Between 1977 and 1982 she lectured in art history at the Victorian College of the Arts. Since then she has written full-time.
In 1987, she won the Victorian Premier's award for fiction for Second Sight. Her novel, Company of Images, was shortlisted in 1990 for the Miles Franklin Award and the Age Book of the Year award. Janine has acted as a consultant to plays, films and documentaries about art and regularly writes feature articles and reviews books for newspapers, journals, television and radio.
She has written an acclaimed series about the Heide circle that includes biographies of Sunday Reed, Albert Tucker and Joy Hester.
Her most recent book, The Gods of Freud: Sigmund Freud's Art Collection, was shortlisted for 2007 NSW Premier's award for non-fiction.
