Choreographer, dancer, new media artist and programmer John McCormick has been interested in the possibility of dance transcending geographic and physical boundaries using emerging technology for over twenty years.

John has presented work at major festivals and events for dance, dance and technology and electronic arts in Australia, Asia, USA, UK and Europe.  Since 2000 John has been developing performance works utilising motion capture technology.

John was awarded a two year Australia Council dance board fellowship to explore different possibilities for creating dance performance environments with motion capture technology and current 3D simulation software using both online and offline performance capabilities.  John will collaborate with Paul Bourke to refine the live performance visualization outcomes at the Western Australian Supercomputer Program. He will also collaborate with Adam Nash to develop sound and visual capabilities for online and live use and with Scott deLahunta to research motion capture methods, choreographic processes and networked dance interaction.

John will also work with Igloo to further develop environments and choreography for a live dual site performance using realtime motion capture between Melbourne and London.
