Restless Dance Company works with young people aged 15-26 years, with and without disabilities, to create inspiring dance theatre and workshop programs.
People with a disability are powerful, expressive and distinctive performers, creating beautiful and dynamic dance theatre.
The company was founded in 1991 by Sally Chance and has produced at least one major new work each year since. In 2000 Restless was invited to perform its work Precious as part of the Paralympic Arts Festival in Sydney.
The power of Restless is that the dancers are encouraged to develop their dance in terms of who they are. They have defined the way the company operates. They are redefining the nature of dance.
Restless Dance Company is a key organisation of the Australia Council for the Arts’ dance board.
