Sally Chance is pioneering the community and cultural development possibilities of dance for babies and very young children in Australia.

Having trained as a community dance practitioner at the Laban Centre for Movement and Dance, London, Sally worked for UK dance company Ludus.  She travelled with the company to South Australia as guest artist of Come Out ’89. Come Out was and continues to be the largest arts festival by and for children and young people in Australia. Sally was the artistic director of Come Out 2003, 2005 and 2007.
Sally’s dance practice focussed for many years on disability cultural activity and she was the founding artistic director of Adelaide-based Restless Dance Company, developing and leading the company’s philosophy and practice from 1991 - 2001.
From 1999-2002 Sally was a member then the chair of the Australia Council’s dance board.
Sally was awarded a two-year fellowship in 2007, to develop a program of dance workshops, research and observation, involving babies and very young children, alongside their adults, leading to the development of a framework for the first creative development of a new performance work.
