Sally Marsden is a leading community arts and cultural practitioner who has worked as a mentor, coordinator and author since 1984.
Sally played a key role in the establishment of The Artful Dodgers Studio for the Jesuit Social Services. She coordinated the program from 1996 to 2002, and has also co-authored two publications, Risking Art: Art for Survival and Engaging Art, The Artful Dodgers Studio; and A Theoretical Model of Practice. Before coming to Jesuit Social Services, Sally was the visual arts director of Somebody's Daughter Theatre.
In 1995 she received an Australia Council professional development fellowship. In 2000 Sally was the recipient of the Ros Bower award from the Australia Council in recognition of her commitment and contribution to community arts and culture.
After many years working with disadvantaged communities, Sally is now a cultural development officer in King Island, Bass Strait. In this position, she has established a cultural centre that forms the hub for local artists, an artist residency program with Arts Tasmania and coordinates a range of community arts projects.
