Shaun Tan

Shaun Tan is the illustrator and author of award winning children's books including The Lost Thing (2000) and The Red Tree (2001).

The Lost Thing is being adapted into a short animated film by the UK production studio Passion Pictures.

In 1992 Shaun won the International Illustrators of the Future Contest, the first Australian to achieve this award and in 2001 he was named Best Artist at the World Fantasy Awards in Montreal. His collaboration with John Marsden on The Rabbits won the 1999 Children’s Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award.

In 2007, his wordless graphic novel The Arrival won the New South Wales Premier's Literary Awards Book of the Year and the Children's Book Council of Australia Picture Book of the Year Award.

His picture books have reached a broad readership in Australia and internationally and have been translated into several languages.
