Kultour hits the international market
Kultour, a national network dedicated to touring Australian multicultural arts hit the international road for the first time in November this year.
Six Australian artists, who were supported by Kultour, an Australia Council initiative in association with Multicultural Arts Victoria presented E1-Aether, a contemporary dance performance at the Biwako Biennale, Japan.

Held in Shiga, the Australian artists from Melbourne-based performing arts organisation The Tony Yap Company included dancer Tony Yap, visual artist Naomi Ota, vocalist Ria Soemardjo and musicians Tim Humphrey and Madeleine Flynn.
Recently appointed chief executive officer of Kultour, Rohini Sharma said that taking up the new position at such a significant period in Kultour’s development was an exciting challenge.
‘Kultour is working with more and more new partners each year enabling us to tour artists widely within Australia, and now, also internationally,’ she said.
‘Kultour has maintained a strong relationship with Tony Yap since supporting him to tour in 2002, and we were very keen to work with him again.
‘We believe there is certainly an international market for such work and will continue to explore partnerships and further opportunities in this area.'
The Kultour multicultural program, which includes both performing and visual arts was established by the Australia Council in 2001. Today ten company members in each state tour consistently high quality work.
‘This national support is pivotal in creating relationships with Australia’s best culturally diverse artists and developing successful tours. The Australia Council’s continued support of Kultour’s vision is also key to its growth and success,' said Rohini.
