Caroline Casey - MMM

Trained in fashion and textile design in Sydney and a graduate of interior design at the Parsons School of Design, New York City, Caroline Casey is one of Australia’s leading object designers.

Her textile and furniture designs have been recognised nationally and internationally and included in collections such as the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art, the Victoria & Albert Museum, National Gallery of Australia, The Powerhouse Museum and Art Gallery of South Australia.

Caroline returned to Sydney from New York to expand on the furniture range she began successfully developing while overseas. In 1994, Caroline entered a partnership with Sydney and Melbourne based retailer Anibou. The retailer features 25 of Caroline’s designs that are sold in both of Anibou’s retail outlets as well as its affiliated international stores.

Australia Council for the Arts’ Maker to Manufacturer to Market initiative (MMM) is supporting Casey to create her design Featherlight. The unique table is solid in appearance with a large seating capacity, yet light and mobile due to the use of advanced carbon fibre materials – similar to what has been used to construct the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.
