Nick Rennie - MMM

With Australian design legend Kjell Grant as a teacher and mentor, Nick Rennie’s earliest design pieces have a maturity of form rarely found in the work of young designers.

Nick graduated from Melbourne’s RMIT University in 2000 and has already achieved significant international exposure through the design media.

In 2002, he established his own studio, Happy Finish Design that enabled him to take advantage of his early international recognition as a furniture and product designer, and turn it into a sustainable commercial success.

Nick has exhibited regularly at trade and design fairs in Europe and Asia, including the Milan International Furniture Fair. Many examples of Nick’s work are now prototyped in Japan, where several products are being developed commercially.

The Australia Council's Maker to Manufacturer to Market (MMM) grant is supported Happy Finish Design to manufacture and release the Twist wire bowl. The design continues Nick's tradition of creating domestic market products using playful, movement capturing designs. The Twist bowl also requires the management of a complex manufacturing process using the most up to date CNC wire bending technology to create the unique three-dimensional shape.
