Excellence in Australian publishing

Robert GrayThe Literature Board is proud to support Giramondo Publishing Company, who publish poetry, literary fiction and non-fiction, and the acclaimed journal Heat. Under the editorship of Ivor Indyk, Giramondo books regularly appear on the winners’ lists at national awards. Indyk aims to publish innovative and adventurous work that might not otherwise find publication. Notably, Alexis Wright’s novel Carpentaria took out the Miles Franklin Award in 2007 and in 2009 the poet Robert Gray’s memoir, The Land I Came Through, was short-listed for the NSW Premier’s Douglas Stewart Prize for Non-Fiction.

Heat, first published in 1995, has established a national and international reputation as a showcase for contemporary writing from Australia.
