International Pathways

Megan WashingtonWashington, the key musical outlet for 23 year old singer/songwriter Megan Washington, has received support in the latest International Pathways funding round.

Along with a group of musicians from bands such as Cat Empire and the Bamboos, Megan Washington brings her background in jazz to the world of indie pop and beyond. With the support of International Pathways Washington will undertake a tour of the US, including showcase performances at SXSW, playing to the general public as well as label and publishing partners in preparation for the debut album release in the US in 2010.

International pathways is an initiative of the Australia Council's Music Board and market development section. The initiative assists with strategic international artistic and market development activities for Australian music and musicians.

Other artists funded in this round include Dappled Cities for a tour of the USA, the UK and Japan; the Freshwater Trio for performances at four music festivals in Canada; and Kate Miller-Heidke for a three week tour of the USA in support of Ben Folds, including performances at the Coachella Festival.

The next closing date for International Pathways is March 31 for tours starting after June 15 2010.
