Visual arts

In the blink of an eye.

Nothing captures a nation’s spirit quite like the visual arts. They draw on the energy and richness of human experience and the ever-changing backdrop of our streets, our wide spaces and our inner rooms, challenging us with unsettling perspectives, uncommon textures and shifting emotions. They speak to us of refinement and beauty, and boldness and danger.

Australia’s visual arts reflect the vibrancy of our real and conceptual landscapes, our talent for lateral thinking, intellectual risk and artistic intervention and offer the world unique visions of what it is to be Australian. The range is unlimited. Start with established forms - painting, sculpture, photography, glass and ceramics - but don’t stop there. Watch out for radical shifts, digital bursts, installations in the most unlikely places, unnerving moments.
