About the opportunity

Applications are now open for support to attend the China Shanghai International Children’s Book Fair (CCBF) 2019.

CCBF is the only book fair fully dedicated to books for children aged 0-16 years in the Asia-Pacific region, and is a major hub of rights activity for children’s literature. The focus of this delegation is to increase opportunities for Australian children’s authors by providing access via their representatives to China’s growing market for children’s books.

The Australia Council’s Arts Practice Director Literature will lead an Australian delegation at CCBF 2019, which takes place at the Shanghai World Expo Exhibition & Convention Centre 15-17 November, with a pre-fair orientation to be held on 14 November.

The Australia Council will support delegates with $2,500 each towards the cost of attending. Supported delegates will be responsible for all costs associated with attending the fair including flights, insurance, visas, accommodation, freight and registration. We will hire and coordinate branding of a shared stand for the Australian delegation to use at the fair. Prior to the fair, CCBF organise the Shanghai Visiting International Publishers Project (SHVIP) a fellowship project exclusively dedicated to children’s publishing. SHVIP takes place in Shanghai from 11-16 November. The program offers a small group of participants the opportunity to gain detailed insight into China’s publishing landscape and visit CCBF from an exclusive perspective. CCBF manage the selection of delegates for SHVIP. Applications for SHVIP close 24 June 2019, via the CCBF website.

Please check the general eligibility requirements on the Australia Council website.

How to submit an application

Click on the ‘Apply' button at the bottom of this page. Applications must be submitted via the Australia Council’s online system.

Note, applications to International Development funding opportunities do not count as an application to the Australia Council Grants Program.

Changes to grants payments

The way Australia Council grants payments are made has changed. Effective immediately, grant recipients will no longer send an invoice for payment of a grant. Instead, after you accept our offer of funding, we will pay your grant into your nominated bank account and send you a Recipient Created Tax Invoice (RCTI).

Important information for administered grants

If you plan to have your grant administered by a third party, applicants will now need to ensure that the administrator is registered on the Australia Council online system before you begin your application. This means you cannot complete or submit an application if your administrator is not registered.
