24-year-old rapper and Gumbaynggirr man Tasman is carrying on the storytelling traditions of his family, by writing a new chapter through music.
From syrupy 90s West Coast synths, to neo-funk, skittering trap hi-hats, and emotive R&B, his music defies categorisation, but his message remains hard to ignore. His debut EP, Mission Famous, has already gathered significant attention from music lovers, media and festivals. Tasman has already secured awards, sold out national tours and supported stars such as Jessica Mauboy.
This award will see him recording, releasing, and touring his next EP. On this EP, Tasman will work with collaborators including producers Kapital J and Kwame, vocalists Genesis Owusu and JK-47 and engineers such as Matt Fioravanti, Tony Espie and David Walker. Together they will write, produce, mix and master 6 original songs.
