Darren Rudd is CEO of AFTA, the
peak body for Australia’s travel agents.
He joined AFTA from the multinational
information services business Tata Consultancy Services where he served as Head
of Corporate Affairs in Australia and New Zealand for four years.
Reporting directly to the
company’s global HQ, he had carriage of the company’s corporate reputation as
well as an operational remit.
Darren has broad experience in
strategic marketing and corporate engagement, including 11 years as GM Services
Business Group Asia/Pacific for Alcatel-Lucent and five years as Lead Corporate
Affairs Manager at the National Broadband Network.
He began his career in a role
allied to the travel and tourism sector: he designed core Hotel Information
Systems for IBM in Hong Kong.
In 2019, the Minister for the Arts appointed Darren to
the board of the Australia Council for the Arts. He also serves on the board of
the Australia India Youth Dialogue and is a member of the Asia Society
Australia advisory board.
He is a former President of the Australian Business
School (AGSM) Alumni, and has been a member of the advisory board of the University
of New South Wales Business School Alumni, and a member of theboard of the State Library of NSW Foundation.
Darren holds an MBA (Executive) from the AGSM at UNSW and
a Bachelor of Information Technology and Communication from the University of
